Confirmation

Age Requirement

The new Diocesan guidelines state that the age for reception of Confirmation will be in the 7th and 8th grades. The option for both 7th and 8th grade was designed for those parishes in the mountains and plains where the sacrament is only done every other year. For our parish, the sacrament is conferred during the 8th grade year or older.

Preparation Process

Candidates need to be in one of the following approved forms of faith formation: Catholic School, Parish Faith Formation or an Approved Home School Program.

Candidate/ Sponsor Session

During the formation year, there will be a Candidate/ Sponsor Sessions held on Sundays once a month. Parents are also welcome and encouraged to participate. In the event that a Sponsor cannot attend the session, a parent or other adult needs to participate instead.

Contact the Faith Formation Office for the dates of the next Candidate/ Sponsor Sessions. 719-633-8711 x105.

Candidate Day of Reflection

As the date for Confirmation nears, candidates gather for a Day of Reflection, focusing on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Contact the Faith Formation Office for the date of the next Day of Reflection.

Weekend Retreat

Candidates will participate in a weekend retreat experience with other youth from our community at Ponderosa Retreat Center near Monument. Contact the Faith Formation Office for the date of the next retreat.

Candidate Interview

A simple interview with designated leaders to review the process and create a spiritual "game plan" for the future.

If you are interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation or have questions, contact Roberto Chavez at 719-633-8711 x105 or email formationdirector@tricommunity.org.

For adults who wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, there is a separate 6-week preparation program in the spring.
