EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AND HOMEBOUND CARE
Contact: Fr. Bob 633-8711 (ext. 18) or Patsy Loveland 685-2393
Trained Eucharistic Ministers visit the homes of those who are homebound or in nursing homes, bringing the Spirit of God and the concern of the faith community to those who suffer and are sick. These ministers pray, listen, support, and offer the Eucharist. Gathering people to pray and distributing the Eucharist to residents in their rooms strengthens the church mission to be present to its people. This ministry is offered in four nursing homes in the parish. There is a discernment and training process; volunteers meet monthly at noon in the Old Rectory at Sacred Heart.

BeFriender Ministry, an ecumenical program of the
University of
St. Thomas, expands the pastoral care extended by the Church. Lay people are
trained to respond to the emotional and spiritual needs of others. BeFrienders
bring a caring presence, a listening heart and a living reminder of God's love.
Becoming a BeFriender is a sharing of self with others, caring for our neighbor
with love and in mutuality.
